It always snows on my birthday. It’s been the case when I lived in The Netherlands and it’s still the case in The States. Now that I have written this down, watch it not snow this year – typical. I don’t really mind the snow, it’s a January birthday thing. Who else has a winter birthday? Do you love it or hate it? To me, winter feels magical. Whether it’s the Christmas decorations in the city, the fireworks on New Year’s Eve or the city covered by a blanket of snow – I love it all. Most of all, I love celebrating my birthday.
I don’t think I ever really grew up. I look forward to my birthday as much now, as I did when I was a kid. I will throw as many parties to honor myself as humanly possible. I know it’s a birthday but I like to make it a birthweek. Anyone that knows me, knows that I don’t shy away from attention, but that’s not what drives me to celebrate my own birth most. I love being surrounded by the people I love. It’s part of what made my wedding day unforgettable (besides the obvious marrying my soulmate thing.) When else are you allowed to drum up all your friends and make them show up at a venue of your choosing (I might also do this for Halloween, Oscar night and many a rooftop extravaganza) without it being weird.
I’m already preparing some birthweek activities and purchasing outfits to wear. I love these shoes by Traffic since they are definitely eye-catchers. Like I said, I don’t mind a little attention, and especially not on my birthday. What do you think? Yay or Nay? I would also love some birthday inspiration. How do you celebrate?
