This was only my second time shooting backstage at NYFW so I might not have a lot to compare it to, but “Boy, was that chill.” I usually don’t even use the word chill, but that’s the first word that came to mind and I’m just gonne go with it.
The models, the crew and the designer herself were all in a good mood. Nina Tiari is a Parsons Alumni and has been featured in PAPER magazine, Vogue and apparently lived next door to Kanye West – I wonder what kind of neighbor he is. I was expecting everyone to be super stressed but the models had a good rehearsal and the staff left some time for the models to eat and touch up their make-up. I enjoyed talking to the other photographers and got some great backstage shots that I’ll insert below.
The show itself was truly inspiring. Models of every ethnicity graced the runway and every single one drop-dead-gorgeous. The first girl out just had a sparkle that was undeniable. I will be stalking the Internet and adding her on Instagram. She stayed cool and collected even though everyone was telling her to both walk faster and slower. If you follow my Instagram stories you might have seen some of the craziness on video.
This might only be Nina Tiari’s second time at NYFW, but I feel pretty confident saying that she will be back next season. Lace, stripes, feathers, sparkles, crazy colors, flowy dress, bell bottom pants, NYC and Cali vibes were all present during the show.
The girls that follow me online all agreed that they need every single piece in Nina’s collection, and they need it now. This collection is for the bold woman, the unafraid woman, the confident and the I-can-take-a-joke woman. It might only be fall but Nina Tiari’s eye for details and exquisite tailoring left me inspired and ready for spring and summer ’18. I’m ready to mix patterns and go color-crazy. Thank you for having me Nina Tiari. I expect great things!
